Let's set the record straight
In his recent story, "Since you brought it up, Rocky Colavito", Ron Kaplan gave credit to the editor of this website for heading up the Rocky fan group
on Yahoo.
To put the ball back into fair territory, that Group was spearheaded in 1998 by Phyllis LaVietes, who for years has been a loyal and dedicated Rocky Colavito
fan. Not only did Phyllis start that Group, which boasts members from across the country, she's continued to
keep current with Rocky ‘happenings', has traveled to signings, and has (enviably) been photographed with
him.
If not for her tenacity, the collective energy that generates this website and
our HOF campaign efforts would not be possible.
Thanks,
Phyllis. You're a shining example to everyone in our Group and to Rocky fans everywhere.

A "must read" memory from the blog of Tommy Pryor recalling the day that Rocky
".... improved my batting practice experience ...." read more ........ Check out Tommy's blog, "Yorkville: Stoops to Nuts ~ The center of a kid's universe is never longer than one city block"
for more baseball nostalgia and neighborhood stories ... New York style."

Another key player in our campaign to see Rocky in the Hall of Fame is Dan Miller,
an Ohio resident and long-time Rocky fan. They're pictured here together at a 1997 signing.
Dan put together
an interesting comparison between Rocky and current Hall of Famer, Ralph Kiner, who also played for sort-of a short time in the Majors..." This
comparison is cited on our Stats Page.
He also looked at Rocky's OPS (on-base percentage + slugging average) and compiled the stats that put Rocky "... dead in the middle at 17 of
a list of 36 Hall of Fame members that were his contemporaries. Unbelievably, Rocky finished ahead of Reggie Jackson, Carl
Yastrzemski and Roberto Clemente." Dan has never wavered in his conviction that
Rocky deserves to be recognized and honored by the Hall of Fame for his contribution to baseball and for
the positive role model he's always been as a player and as a person.
